Overview

Please join us on 8/31 and/or 9/20 for a day of trail work on the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail. AMC in partnership with the USFS and Northwoods Stewardship Center is involved in a multi-year effort to relocate 1.5 miles of the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail on Mount Washington. We could use a hand! This is the first significant new trail constructed on Mt Washington in decades. Its a great opportunity to apply the knowledge we've gained to design and construct a sustainable trail. Grades, soils and drainage are all factors in creating a new approach to the Lakes of the Clouds. Some novel (to the White Mountains) techniques are being applied to respond to increased precipitation and hiker traffic. Meet at the US Forest Service Ammonoosuc Ravine Trailhead 9 AM on Saturday August 31. Be prepared for a 4-5 mile hike and a full day of trail work. Note: this is the official Forest Service trailhead, please do not park at the Cog Railway.
