Overview

Enjoy a family-friendly hike up to the summit of Bradbury Mountain on the Northern Loop trail, then down via the Summit trail. The trail is gradual on the way up and moderately steep on the way down. A great hike for kids (there's a playground at the end of the trail!).

*Note that the park charges day use fees of $1 per child age 5-11, $4 per adult ME resident, $6 per adult non-resident, and $2 per non-resident senior. Maine residents age 65+ and children under age 5 are free.

Driving Directions

Bradbury Mountain State Park is located at 528 Hallowell Road in Pownal, ME. From Exit 22 off U.S. I-295 (the Freeport-Durham exit), head west and make a left onto Durham Road. Follow this road (It will become Pownal Rd., then Elmwood Rd.) to the blinking light at the intersection of Route 9 and Elmwood Road. Turn right onto Route 9. The park entrance is a few minutes drive; on the left (west) side of Route 9. We will meet in the parking area that is to your right after you enter the park.
