Mohican Outdoor Center,
New Jersey, Delaware Water Gap,
NJ United States
Please join us for a memorial gathering at the boathouse to honor and celebrate the life of Jim Catozzi who was a dedicated AMC Delaware Valley volunteer. He was an active hike and backpack leader as well as serving on the Executive Committee for several years. Jim was well known for his outdoor cooking skills and would prepare camping meals that were 'soup to nuts'. He was also heavily involved in programs at Mohican Outdoor Center so it is very fitting that the dedication will be at the boathouse overlooking Catfish Pond. Please gather a few minutes before 10:30 for the dedication. In conjunction with Jim's memorial dedication, AMC Mohican Outdoor Center is hosting their Fall Fest; registration begins at 9:00am. It will be a full day of activities including a morning hike on the Coppermine Trail, free use of kayaks, canoes and paddleboards to navigate on Catfish Pond, Nature Center tours, Wilderness First Aid and backpack packing demos, a gourmet barbecue lunch, live music, plus a campfire with s'mores & telescopes in the evening. $20 suggested donation In addition, Lennie Steinmetz and Pete Jarrett are offering a 4.5 mile hike to the Catfish Fire Tower along the Appalachian Trail at 1:30 which provides even more extensive views of the area. Return by the Rattlesnake Swamp Trail through rhododendron groves and back to the northern end of camp. Registration is required and this hike is posted separately on ActDB.
