6+ miles. Mostly flat with many ups and downs. Beautiful views of the lake; fall foliage will make it even more spectacular. We'll hike around the lake stopping for some history of resistance to dam construction in the early 1960s and the village that was drowned by the dam. Refreshment afterwards at the Vanilla Bean Cafe for those inclined. Meet at 9:45 for 10 am start. DIRECTIONS: GPS 449 Reardon Rd, North Grosvenor Dale, CT gets you to Park Hdqtrs. Pass Hdqtrs and watch for signs to boat launch on left. Park near the boat launch. OTHERWISE: From the east take Rte. 44 east to Putnam. Just after Putnam take Rte. 12 north to the intersection of Rte. 193 W. Thompson Rd; turn left, then right on Reardon Rd, the entrance to the park. Pass Park HDQ on right and follow signs to the boat launch. FROM THE SOUTH: 2 Options - (1) Follow Rte. 198, 97 or 169 north to Rte. 44, turn east and follow above directions. (2) Take I-395 north to Exit 49. Turn left onto Rte. 12 south. Go 0.7 mile and turn right onto W. Thompson Lake Rd, then right on Reardon Rd, the park entrance. Watch for signs to Boat Launch.
