Join us for a Friday, fall traverse ascending South Moat, hiking the ridge to Middle and North Moat and enjoying beautiful views of the Mt Washington Valley . This is a strenuous hike of about 10 miles and 3000 ft of elevation gain. Once we summit South Moat, the majority of the ridge is above tree line and very exposed. From Middle Moat to North Moat expect steep descents/ascents and ledges requiring some scrambles. Also, there are river and brook crossings. We plan to hike at an overall average of 1.5mph but will not leave anyone behind. We'll be a little slower on the uphills and a little faster on the flats. Prior hiking experience over mountain terrain of similar distance and similar elevation gain is required. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
