Overview

Our goal is to Mt. Isolation (4,004') from the North East via the Rocky Branch Trail, Isolation Trail, Davis Path and the spur to the summit. The planned route is strenuous - 14.6 miles out and back with a 3,200 ft elevation gain. Expect sections of trail that are slippery, wet and boggy. We will hike at a moderate pace will carefully navigate rocks, stones, fallen leaves and water crossings. The route includes a mile-long ascent, hiking through a beautiful birch forest and on a clear day will be rewarded by views of Mt. Washington and the Southern Presidential Range. Headlamps and microspikes are required. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
