... Hiking the Pemi with my 78 year-old mother, and other bad decisions in backpacking, by Rose Nolen-Walston. Rose is a professor of veterinary medicine as her day job, but enjoys making bad decisions in backpacking on weekends and vacations. As a novice hiker, she completed solo thru-hikes in Montenegro and Turkey - these involved getting accidentally drunk at 8am, stealing a boat, sleeping in a cemetery, crashing a funeral, and needing rabies shots. Cautionary tales and discussion of the Dunning-Kruger effect will be included. Location: Northboro Historical Society, 52 Main St. (Rt.20) - parking lot on School St. Doors open at 6:30. Dinner at 7:00. Speakers shortly after. Bring a dish to share - appetizer, entree, dessert, or beverage. Note: The speaker will be presenting from a remote location to our Northboro location. Registration is not required, and all are welcome: members, non-members, families, visitors & guests. If you're interested in an optional brief intro/orientation to the AMC and the Worcester Chapter at 6:30, contact [email protected].
