Overview

Join us for this annual backcountry ski trip in the remote Maine Woods, a pristine wilderness area within the AMC's 70,000-acre reserve. 4 nights lodging at West Branch Pond Camps, a rustic, traditional Maine sporting camp and Maine's longest continuously operated camp, family owned and managed since 1910. Enjoy home-cooked family-style meals, cozy waterfront cabins, personalized ski route planning and trail grooming by our host and owner, Eric Sterling. Escape to another time and enjoy the beauty and silence of winter at this camp which maintains the American traditions of hospitality and outdoor life. Ski trails of various distances/levels of difficulty, snowshoeing, and ice skating are available right outside our cabin door. Previous backcountry skiing experience recommended. Limited space available (only 7 spots this season!).

ELISE HEDGLEN has been organizing cross-country ski trips to the Maine Woods since 2014, and loves to get out on skis/snowshoes as soon as the snow begins flying! She has been an AMC leader since 2012, is an AMC Mountain Leadership School graduate, and is Wilderness First Aid certified. Elise is an avid hiker/backpacker, and has completed the NE 67 4K-footers, the NH Winter 4K-footers, and the Appalachian Trail. She has finished 16 marathons, including Boston, New York City, Disney, and Big Sur.
