Overview

Track II (moderate to advanced). ~6 miles, average and strenuous terrain, moderate pace (1.5-2mph). This is an instructional hike designed to provide novice winter hikers with the opportunity to hone the necessary skills to hike safely and successfully in winter. Planned route is ascend via Manning to Firescrew, Mowglis to Cardigan; descend via Clark, Holt-Clark Cut-off, Holt, Manning. The actual route we take will depend on weather and trail conditions. Full winter gear required. Preference given to first time attendees of the 11/02 workshop who have completed the prior Track II hikes successfully. All potential participants will be screened. Limited to 10 (including the leaders) fit and fun loving hikers who embrace winter! Note: Depending on the predicted weather for the weekend, we will use Saturday, January 11 as an alternate date.
