Overview

Join the AMC and All Out Adventures to learn techniques to help yourself or others with mobility issues keep paddling. The professional staff of All Out Adventures (AOA) offers paddling programs for those with a broad range of mobility needs and has a variety of adaptive equipment to make this possible. We will meet the AOA staff at 12:45 pm at Benedict Pond in Beartown State Forest, Great Barrington, for a paddle including people of all abilities. Those who need assistance or adaptations to paddle will be accommodated, in either a single kayak, or double kayak or canoe with another paddler. Others are welcome to join for the 1 - 1½ hour paddle around Benedict Pond. You may bring your own boat, paddle, and PFD if desired or use equipment belonging to AOA. The fee is $8, payable to All Out Adventures either in person at the event (cash or check) or ahead of time when registering for the event on their site. All paddlers must pre-register by 12pm the day before the paddle. Deb has been hiking and paddling in New England for over 40 years. She was a whitewater trip leader for AMC in the 1980s and currently leads flatwater and quickwater trips. She paddles kayaks, tandem and solo canoes and holds an instructor certification from the American Canoe Association in Level 1 kayaking and Level 2 tandem canoeing. Her interests are river paddling, canoe camping, hiking, backpacking, and cross country skiing.

Dawne Piers-Gamble is a paddle and hike leader and chairs the Justice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (JDEI) Committee of the Western Mass Chapter. She is also a trail maintainer at Noble View.
