Spend the three day weekend with friendly hosts, great food, outdoor adventures tending toward the laid back, and afterwards conversation around the fireplace or hot tub. The Blue Gentian Inn is located at the base of the Magic Mountain ski resort with nearby networks of hiking trails, cross-country and additional downhill ski resorts plus sights and shopping in the area. Organized group activities depend on conditions but usually include cross country and snowshoeing. Speaking of downhill, a couple years ago Ski Magazine ranked little independent Magic Mountain among its "Top 10" eastern resorts - describing it as an uncrowded mountain offering long steeps and an unflashy lodge. Speaking of crowds, downhill skiers considering other area resorts will find that come Monday the holiday crowd has all but vanished. Full winter gear is required including MICROSPIKES or HILLSOUND traction as hiking trails are frequently icy. Current COVID vaccination (and for that matter flu and RSV, it's just smart) is recommended given the group size and shared indoor space.
