Overview

Winter is Coming! Time to dig out your gear, dust off the cobwebs, and work your legs and cardio for the season ahead. The plan is to skin up and ski down multiple laps at Ragged Mtn ski area in Darby, NH. This mountain has 1,000' elevation and some fun glades if there is natural snow. A $10 uphill pass is required. We will meet at the picnic tables outside the main lodge at 9:30. This trip is an informal show & go, however please contact the leader if you plan to come. I can then contact you if the venue changes due to conditions or to arrange car pooling. This is a great way to meet other uphill skiers at the start of the ski season. We will likely split into fast and slow groups and you can skip a lap or quit early. Requirements are: 1- You will need Alpine Touring (AT) or Telemark gear plus skins (rentals not avail nearby). 2- You should be capable of skinning up and skiing down at least 2,000 vertical feet (2 laps). {You may do only one lap - nobody is counting}. 3- You should be capable of skiing down a groomed intermediate run. Jeff leads ski trips all over New England as well as Utah. He particularly enjoys backcountry skiing in fresh, soft snow. He is also tolerant and patient given most New England winters (and fondly remembers 2015)
