Celebrate the season with friends, cheer, and food at J. P. Doyle's Restaurant in Tarrytown / Sleepy Hollow, NY. Date: January 12, 2025, Sunday Time: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm Location: J.P. Doyle's, Tarrytown, NY. Tarrytown is 40 minutes from NYC Grand Central Station via the Metro-North Railroad. Drivers will find the place an easy on/off NY Thruway (I-287 and I-87), five minutes north of Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge along the eastern shores of the Hudson. Food: Appetizers will be served from 2 pm to 4 pm. You can buy your drink or other food options. Please pick up your fellow paddlers at the Tarrytown train station around 1:30 pm on your way to the restaurant. We will have two pre-hike options (inclement weather will cancel hikes; contact leaders to confirm): 1. Stroll ~ 2 miles along the Scenic Hudson Riverwalk Park from Philipse Manor Station to J. P. Doyle's Restaurant along a mostly flat, mostly paved walkway. View the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse, Kingsland Point Park, Riverfront Community Mural, and Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse. See sweeping views of the Hudson River and the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. Train for River Walk: Take Metro North Hudson towards Croton-Harmon / Poughkeepsie, arriving at the Philipse Manor Station at 1:23 pm (it leaves Grand Central Terminal at approximately 12:23 pm). Drive for River Walk: Meet just after 1:00 pm in the downtown Sleepy Hollow parking lot at 17 Beekman Ave, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591 (all parking is free on Sunday). Look for other AMCrs to carpool to the train station (permit parking is NOT enforced on Sundays). Then, carpool to the Philipse Manor Station, park, and meet your fellow members arriving by train. Space is limited at the train station. Have your passenger drive you back to your car before/after the party. Walking Path: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Nux24hxE1es6TGU26 2. A two-to-four-mile slow-paced hike at Rockefeller State Park Preserve (pending trail conditions). This hike has some ups and downs, with 300 - 400 feet of elevation change and various views of Swan Lake, woods, meadows, glacial erratics, and streams to enjoy. If trail conditions are favorable, we will attempt something similar to the Rockefeller Park Loop on AllTrails.com. We will adjust as weather and trail conditions permit. Meet your trip leader at 11:30 pm inside/near the Tarrytown Train station building just outside the northbound side of the tracks. Drivers, please pick up people at the train station to shuttle them to the trailhead. There is a $6 parking fee to park within the park or park on the road just outside the gate to save on the fee.
