Celebrate the season with good friends, good cheer, and good food at J. P. Doyle's Restaurant in Tarrytown / Sleepy Hollow, NY. Date: January 7, 2024, Sunday Time: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm Location: J.P. Doyle's, Tarrytown, NY. Tarrytown is 40 minutes from NYC Grand Central Terminal via the Metro-North Railroad. Drivers will find the location an easy on/off NY Thruway (I-287 and I-87), five minutes north of Cuomo Bridge along the eastern shore of the Hudson. Food: Appetizers will be served from 2 to 4 pm. Please pick up your fellow paddlers at the Tarrytown train station around 1:30 pm on your way to the restaurant. We will have two pre-hike options (inclement weather will cancel hikes; contact leaders to confirm): 1. Stroll ~ 2 miles along the Scenic Hudson Riverwalk Park from Philipse Manor Station to J. P. Doyle's Restaurant along a mostly flat, mostly paved walkway. View the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse, Kingsland Point Park, Riverfront Community Mural, and Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse. See sweeping views of the Hudson River and the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. Train for River Walk: Take Metro North Hudson towards Poughkeepsie to arrive at the Philipse Manor Station at 1:23 pm (leaves Grand Central Terminal approx. 12:23 pm). NOTE TIME CHANGE Drive for River Walk: Meet at noon in the downtown Sleepy Hollow parking lot at 17 Beekman Ave, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591 (all parking is free on Sunday). We will then carpool to the train station (permit parking is NOT enforced on Sundays). 2. 3-4 Mile Slow Paced Hike at Rockefeller State Park Preserve. This hike has some ups and downs, with 300 - 400 feet of elevation change and various views of Swan Lake, woods, meadows, glacial erratics, and streams similar to the Rockefeller Park Loop on AllTrails.com. For Hike at Park: Meet the trip leader inside the Tarrytown train station building just outside the northbound side of the tracks at 12:30 am. (The train leaves Grand Central at 11:50 am). Drivers, please pick up people at the train station to shuttle them to the trailhead. NOTE TIME CHANGE There is a $6 parking fee to park within the park or park on the road just outside the gate to save on the fee. Riders, be kind to your drivers and share the costs.
