A moderate paced hike through contiguous conservation land in Lincoln and Concord including a steep section up Fairhaven Hill with an estimated elevation of 329 ft and trails through Wright Woods and Seton Woods. Our route includes a walk along Fairhaven Bay, one of the most scenic trails in Concord and past what Thoreau called "Grape Cliff". We will hike about 8 miles through active agricultural land, over wooden footbridges, past ponds, forest, interesting rock formations and picturesque fields. Total elevation gain for the route is about 800 ft. Plan to be out for 4+ hours depending on the pace of the group (which can vary). We will meet at the Lincoln MBTA parking lot, next to Donelan's Supermarket (parking is free on weekends and holidays). The Lincoln stop is accessible from the Fitchburg MBTA line. Wear sturdy hiking shoes, moisture wicking layers and clothing appropriate for the weather. Bring the following in your Day Pack: lunch and snacks and 2 liters of water. Bring a hat and gloves/mittens, scarf (if you use these items). Hiking poles are recommended if you use them. Microspikes may be required (depending on the conditions) Hike information and details will be emailed to participants about 2 days prior to the hike. Steady rain/ thunderstorms or snowstorms cancels. No dogs allowed on the hike, thanks for understanding Additional Notes: a permit from the Lincoln Conservation Commission was obtained for this hike. In accordance with our permit, hikers must practice the principles of "Leave No Trace" The hike leaders reserve the right to adjust the route if conditions warrant and cannot guarantee the hike will be completed by any specific time.
