Overview

Track II (moderate to advanced). 4.5-5 miles, average and strenuous terrain, moderate pace (1.5-2mph). This is an instructional hike designed to provide novice winter hikers with the opportunity to hone the necessary skills to hike safely and successfully in winter. Full winter gear required "Track II" (including full crampons). Preference given to the 11/02/24 Winter Workshop attendees. Registration will open 2 weeks prior to the hike for non-workshop attendees. Limited to 8 fit hikers! Once confirmed, carpooling is encouraged and can be arranged in the event's Rideshare board found in the Activities Database. Masks are strongly advised during the ride. Unsafe driving conditions cancels trip.

I'm a 4 season hiking and 3 season backpacking leader for the AMC Worcester Chapter. I enjoy working with other outdoor enthusiasts and helping them reach their goals. Currently serving as the Worcester Chapter Leadership Chair. Certified in WFA and CPR.

Mike Smith is a 4 Season Worcester Chapter Leader, residing near the White Mountains. Has hiked all of the 4,000 ftrs. At least twice or more and 30 + in the winter . "This does not make me an expert but I do love and respect these mountains". Luke and I as leaders will work with the group and individuals to accomplish a safe and enjoyable hike. All of us in the hiking group will have something to offer to make a safe and memorable time together.

Sue has been an AMC member since 2020. She enjoys hiking year-round, 3-season backpacking, working on the 52WAV and has completed the NH48. Past highlights included the Presidential Traverse and Mt. Katahdin. Sue is looking forward to leading in 2024 and meeting hiking enthusiasts.
