Overview

This trip is part of the Boston Chapter Winter Hiking Program (WHP) and is only open to enrolled participants of that program. If you would like more information about the WHP, please email us at [email protected] This will be a fun* opportunity to figure out how to carry all your winter gear and to ask questions of the leaders concerning equipment and any other topics covered in the Winter Hiking Program while hiking on real trails, but without the drive to the Whites. We will demonstrate the use of microspikes, crampons and snowshoes. If the weather cooperates, we'll also have a chance to practice heat and energy management. (*While we will have fun, there will be no laughter. Uncontrolled laughter can lead to frost bitten lungs.) To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out. Backup Plan: This is a flexible hike. In case of inclement weather, a shorter loop will be used
