New Hampshire, White Mountains,
NH
This trip is part of the Boston Chapter Winter Hiking Program (WHP) and is only open to enrolled participants of that program. If you would like more information about the WHP, please email us at [email protected] This is day hike suitable for someone who has taken the Boston H/B 2023 Winter Hiking and Backpacking Program but who has not done any winter hikes yet, or for someone who has taken the program and done one or more previous winter hikes. The round trip is 6.2 miles and the trail gains 2600' of elevation, so it is moderate in difficulty and participants should be in at least decent physical shape. It should take us about 6 hours to complete the hike, and emphasis will be on instruction in winter hiking techniques including temperature regulation and self-care. We will hike at a moderate pace. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out. Backup Plan: This is a protected hike. If weather makes this impossible, it would make any hike in the area impossible. we would cancel
