Overview

New Mexico's landscape, both geographical and cultural, is vast and varied. Join us on a road trip to tour and hike some of the most amazing places in the state. We will visit five national parks and monuments, namely White Sands (where we will walk and play on the dunes), Carlsbad Caverns, Salinas Pueblo Mission, Bandelier, and Petroglyph National Monument. We will learn about pueblo culture as we visit ancient dwellings at Bandelier, Santa Fe and Salinas Pueblo. We will also hike at Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas (just south of the NM border). We will visit historic "old town" Albuquerque and go to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in that city. We will ride the Sandia Peak Tramway for breathtaking views, and take a short hike from the summit at 10,300 feet. We will go to Santa Fe, founded in 1610, and visit historic sites in and near the city, including the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum (O'Keeffe is one of the southwest's most prominent artists). This is both a cultural and hiking trip. We will be walking and hiking for several hours most days. The walks and hikes are easy to moderate. To visit these incredible places, we will have several days with long drives during our New Mexico tour.
