*At the time of this posting there continues to be a long detour on Frenchtown Road south of Milford NJ, so If coming from PA consider crossing the Delaware on the Frenchtown Bridge* Join our Wednesday hiking group as we travel from the Frenchtown Bridge parking lot south along the D&R feeder canal towpath, then walk for a short distance along a country road to a loop within pretty Horseshoe Bend Park. Return on the same route back to our starting point for a total of 8 miles. Expect that parts of the trails in the park may be wet and muddy depending on weather conditions. One short section has a steep downhill. Hiking boots and poles if you use them normally are recommended. Wear layered clothing appropriate for the weather. Bring water, snacks, and a lunch to eat during a stop in Horseshoe Bend Park. Since this is the group's last meeting before the holidays, treats to share at lunch would be welcome. Meet at 10:00 am in the parking lot adjacent to Frenchtown Bridge. Heavy rain or snow may cancel especially if driving is judged to be unsafe.
