Overview

Let's stretch our legs this Thanksgiving weekend with this walk in Arcadia Wildlife Management Area in Exeter, Rhode Island. There are over 14,000 acres to explore here! We start on a portion of the Tippecansett trail which hugs the shore of Beach Pond initially, with several spots to stop along the way. We then head into hemlock and pine forest, with a side path to "Hemlock Ledges" viewpoint. Mountain Laurel fills the forest as well. We loop back to our starting point for a total of just over 3 miles with a couple small hills for elevation gain of 270'. Plan on 2 hours with time for snacks and views. This hike is appropriate for new members, young and old, and school age children who are comfortable walking over roots and rocks and have walked this distance previously. Please wear some blaze orange as it is hunting season. You do not have to be an AMC member to participate, but please review the waiver. After the hike there is an optional trip to Tomaquag Museum a short distance away. This quaint museum is Rhode Island's only Native American museum. It is open until 2 pm with an admission fee for Adults $6, Seniors $5, Children $3
