Overview

Join us for a hike around Breakneck Pond at Bigelow Hollow State Park/Nipmuck State Forest in northeastern Connecticut. This lollipop loop is about 6.7 miles over rolling terrain with minimal elevation gain of about 300 ft, with rocks and roots on parts of the trail. We will enjoy a view of the beautiful pond for most of the way, and may see some eagles soaring above on their way to their nests. We'll hike at a moderate pace, stopping for breaks and lunch, and to explore anything of interest along the way. The hike will start around 9:30 a.m. Expect to be on the trail for 4-5 hours. Bring water, snacks, lunch, and poles if you use them. Appropriate hiking shoes/boots and bright orange are required. Optional post-hike stop at nearby Travelers Restaurant. Details will be emailed to registered participants.
