If you still have questions, email us at [email protected]. Arrive at Joe Dodge Lodge on Friday night to settle in and join the leaders for a brief intro to the weekend. On Saturday, we will review the fundamentals of above tree line travel and gear in classroom mode, and then head out to practice the proper use of crampons and ice axe, as well as get comfortable with other above tree line gear, such as goggles, face mask, clothing layers, gloves, and traveling as a team. On Sunday after a hearty breakfast, we will set forth to apply our learning and practice to a Lion Head approach to Mt. Washington. Whether or not the conditions permit us to summit, we will gain a valuable and unforgettable dose of above tree line experience. Note, plastic boots, ice ax and full crampons are required! This is a strenuous hike and should NOT be your first serious winter trip. Sunday includes 9 miles hiking with 4300' of elevation gain over steep, strenuous terrain in snowy, icy and windy winter conditions To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out. backup plan: we'll pick a dayhike suitable for the weather
