Overview

This hike is approximately 6.0 miles in Regional Water Authority (RWA) property. We are planning on hiking at a steady pace (around 1.5 mph) as the trail winds through and along the site of the "Little Genesee Settlement". As part of this hike, we are planning on stopping to appreciate the foundations and stonework. The hike is mainly on dirt roads however, it also includes a couple of narrow trails. There will be some bushwhacking to get a closer look at the foundations so poles are recommended. Wear sturdy boots/shoes; bring water and a trail snack. Rain and hazardous driving conditions cancels. RWA prohibits dogs. The entrance gate to the property will be unlocked by 9:20 AM for a 9:45 AM start. Prior to the hike leaving the parking lot, the entrance gate will be locked and the hike leaders will carry the required RWA permit. DIRECTIONS: From Rte. I-95 take Exit 61 (Rte. 79). Stay on Rte. 79, pass the rotary. After Hathaway Road, look for the brown colored RWA sign on west side of Rte. 79. (Pin on map is approximate) Street address is: 1825 Durham Rd. Madison.
