Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire,
New Hampshire, White Mountains,
NH
Join us for one of the signature hikes in the White Mountains - a winter traverse of the Franconia Ridge. This will be a strenuous hike, at a moderate to slow pace, over Little Haystack (4,760 ft), Mt. Lincoln (5,089 ft), and Mt. Lafayette (5,260 ft). Depending on trail and weather conditions, this 9-mile hike with 3,900 ft of elevation gain will likely take 8-10 hours. If conditions allow, we will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views from the above treeline ridge. This trip targets experienced winter hikers who have all the required winter gear, including winter boots, multiple layers, crampons, snowshoes, microspikes, ice axe face mask and goggles. Be prepared to be moving the entire time, with some short breaks to adjust insulation and footgear and take food/water breaks. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
