This approximately 5 mile hike will include a large lollipop and a small lollipop loop. We will hike twice to the 1,300 foot North Summit (total elevation gain of 811 feet). Views from north and south summits. There are many ups and downs with steep and rocky areas. The area was used for mining iron ore, copper and nickel in the 19th century so there are mine shafts at various points along the trail. ( We will view these but will keep our distance as they are potentially unstable.) Please wear hiking boots, layers and bring sufficient water and snacks. Given the time of year and location, hikers may also be required to carry microspikes. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED by emailing the trip leader. Limited to 10 hikers. Meeting time and place will be given to registered hikers.
