Overview

Join us when we explore Borderland State Park, which straddles the town line between Easton and Sharon, hence the name. Borderland used to be the estate of Blanche and Oakes Ames. Oakes was a descendent of the Ames Family which started the Ames Shovel Company. This company grew into the world's leading manufacturer of shovels. Blanche was an artist and women's rights activist, including women's voting rights. The park and mansion have been used in many movies including "Mermaids", "Shutter Island", "Knives Out" and the latest installment of "Ghostbusters". This will be a moderately paced 6-to-7-mile hike with maybe 500 feet of elevation gain. Terrain will be rocky at times. An Information Sheet with more details including where to park will be emailed several days before the hike. Thunderstorms or extreme winds may delay, cancel, or shorten this hike. Rain will not stop us from hiking, and we won't cancel. So, if this sounds good, we hope to see you on this hike.
