New Hampshire, Lakes Region,
NH
This trip is part of the Boston Chapter Winter Hiking Program (WHP) and is only open to enrolled participants of that program. If you would like more information about the WHP, please email us at [email protected] These two peaks in the Belknap Range offer a gentle introduction to the NH mountains in winter. After a steady climb, we'll have a nice ridge walk with occasional peek-out views, culminating in a broad sweep of Lake Winnipesaukee from Gunstock's summit. Our route covers 6.7mi and climbs 1670'. We aim for a moderate-to-relaxed but largely steady pace. This trip is suitable for WHP participants with a solid base of three-season hiking experience and regular exercise. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out. Backup plan - if in the case of parking difficulties, may consider Mount Major; in case of bad weather will cancel or reschedule.
