Overview

Meet at 11:30 a.m. to hike at 11:45 a.m. from the Keith Mitchell Forest, 324 Roosevelt Dr. (Rt. 34), Seymour, for this moderate-paced 6 mile hike through the Rockhouse Hill Sanctuary, featuring bucolic streams, shady hemlock groves, several sets of cascades, and a view of the Housatonic River. The hike starts with a steady uphill climb on a newly cleared trail. There are some steep sections with a total of 1,100 ft. of elevation gain, so expect a workout. Well-mannered dogs welcome. There is no need to RSVP for this hike or to send regrets as to why you cannot make it: just show up if interested. Rain cancels. Any decision to cancel will be made at 7 a.m. the morning of the hike and an email would be sent via the club's email list to announce this potential change. Left on Rt. 188 South for 1.2 miles. Right on Rt. 34 West. Next right into the parking area. Rt. 15, Exit 58 to Rt. 34 West for 7.8 miles. The parking area is on the right just past Rt. 188. I-84, Exit 11 to Rt. 34 East for 8.7 miles. Left into the parking area, just before Rt. 188.
