Overview

Join us for an exciting hike on December 1st to Mount Hitchcock and Mount Holyoke in South Hadley, Massachusetts. This adventure offers a wonderful way to enjoy nature, connect with fellow hikers, and explore the beauty of the region. Route: We'll be tackling an 8.45-mile out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of approximately 2,350 feet. Expect hilly terrain with rocks, roots, and some scrambles, but no stream crossings. This trail offers a rewarding challenge for those with prior hiking experience. Pace: We aim to maintain a steady pace on the faster side of moderate, allowing for moments to enjoy the scenery and take in the natural surroundings. A regular fitness routine is recommended to comfortably complete this hike. Depending on the group and conditions, you can expect to spend anywhere from 5.5 to 8 hours on the trail. Weather & Gear: We anticipate temperatures around 40°F, with no snow or ice expected. However, in case of unexpected weather, participants are required to bring microspikes and full winter clothing. Please note that heavy rain or snow will cancel the trip. The exact time and route details will be shared with participants closer to the event. We look forward to sharing this adventure with you! To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.

Nathalie is always eager to be outdoors, whether it is running, hiking, paddling or generally exploring the flora and fauna (especially mushrooms!). Ever since joining the AMC in the fall of 2021, she tries to regularly visit the White Mountains, and is currently working on completing the 48 4000-footers of New Hampshire. She is excited to explore this beautiful region with others.
