Let's explore a section of the Midstate Trail. The Midstate trail runs through Massachusetts from the Rhode Island border at Douglas State Park to the New Hampshire border ending near Mount Watatic in Ashburnham State Forest. This is a great hike if you are interested in completing the Midstate Trail or if you just want to get outdoors. We will maintain a moderate pace (1.5 - 2 miles per hour), with occasional stops. The proposed route for this hike is the following. We will hike southbound on a point-to-point route taking us through the town of Ashburnham, Westminster and Princeton, MA. The hike will involve a car spot (about a 15 to 20-minute drive) and about 12-13 miles of trails, elevation gain about 1200', with hiking trails through forest and meadows and paved roads. Points of interest are Graffiti Bridge, Crow Hill and Redemption Rock. The hike, along with car spotting, will take approximately 7-8 hours to complete. Information on start time and location and what to bring will be sent to approved participants. Leaders reserve the right to adjust the mileage based on conditions. Steady rain will cancel.
