Join us for a "first day on skis" workshop at the nearby winter wonderland of Waterville Valley Resort, NH. By the end of the day you will advance to a confident novice and be gliding along with us. The Waterville Valley Nordic center is the largest within 2 hours of Boston and one of the higher ones in the Whites for generally good snow conditions. In the morning you have a group lesson provided by FIS certified resort instructors and in the afternoon our AMC leaders will take you on a tour to hone and practice your new skills. This trip is formally joint listed by the Boston and Worcester Chapters! Here is the basic plan: -9:00 Arrive in Waterville Valley, NH via self driving/car pools, rent equipment, get trail pass, etc -9:45 Introductions with your AMC leaders and fellow skiers -10:00 Handoff to your certified Waterville Valley Nordic Instructors for group lessons. --11:30 Lesson ends, lunch and socializing in Adventure Center; bring your own packed lunch or buy pre-made sandwiches at the Jugtown store. -1:00pm Afternoon ski tour with AMC leaders who will split the group and provide tips to reinforce the instruction. -3:30pm approx end day (trails close at 1600), return equipment, optional socializing Cost is $25 includes equipment rental, a group lesson, trail pass and an afternoon ski tour with personalized instruction and tips. There may be a limited number of free scholarships available, if interested please contact the leader directly. How do I sign up and details? Later the leaders will provide final logistical info to confirmed skiers, equipment waivers and ask you for info needed for the rentals. In general, you should be prepared to be outside most of the day. Have a small rucksack or fanny pack with water, snack, extra hat extra gloves and a warm jacket (puffy down jackets are perfect) for when we are not as active. You will get quite warm or really cool off depending on how active you are. Car Pools will be facilitated via the ActDB.
