This trip is part of the Boston Chapter Winter Camping and Backpacking Program (WBP) and enrolled participants in that program have priority for registration for this trip. Registration may be opened to others at a later date. This trip is intended for participants who would like to try Winter backpacking for the first time or hone their Winter camping and backpacking skills. We will hike in the Hancock Notch Trail for less than 3 miles and set up camp. The stretch of the Hancock Notch Trail beyond its junction with the Cedar Brook Trail is much less traveled in Winter and will offer a great backcountry site for us to experience the wonders of Winter backpacking. Assuming there's enough snow, we'll dig a Winter kitchen. Depending on time and weather, we may hike to the Hancocks after setting up camp. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
