Overview

Interested in learning how to travel uphill on skis or splitboards? Join us for a day of skinning-up and skiing/riding-down Tenney Mountain. This event is for everyone who is new to uphill travel or who would like to practice skinning and transitioning in an in-resort environment. Participants should be proficient downhill skiers/snowboarders, capable of comfortably navigating intermediate or advanced downhill slopes. The event is open to those using splitboards, alpine touring or telemark gear, though instructor familiarity is limited to alpine touring and telemark equipment. We will teach basics on attaching skins, switching bindings, efficient climbing techniques and heat management. Participants should also be capable of climbing 2,000 - 4,000 vertical feet. We will have fast and slow groups so you can climb at a comfortable pace. For those needing rental of alpine touring or splitboard gear: AMC is pleased to offer substantially reduced pricing through a local retailer. Further details available upon request. Contact the leaders for questions and further details.
