We will follow a portion of the Westborough Charm Bracelet Trail System including trails through the Wayne F. McCollough Wildlife Management area, past Chauncy Pond and Little Chauncy Pond and through Cedar Hill Conservation Area where we will stop and take in the views at the top of Cedar Hill. The route travels through agricultural fields, swamp, forest and wet meadow. There are wide farm paths and narrow corridors, wooden bridges, a tunnel and a few road crossings. The total trip is 8+ miles with a total elevation gain of around 650 ft. Plan to be out for 5+ hours depending on the pace of the group (which can vary). The hike leaders reserve the right to adjust the route if conditions warrant and cannot guarantee the hike will be completed by any specific time. Please note: a short portion of the route passes a gun club and we may hear related noise. Wear Bright Colors/ Blaze Orange - hunting is permitted in the area Wear sturdy hiking shoes. Be prepared for a possibly wet and/or muddy trail, snow and/or ice. Wear moisture wicking layers and clothing appropriate for the weather. Bring the following in your Daypack/Backpack: lunch and snacks, at least 2 liters of water and a raincoat/rain gear. Bring a hat, scarf, gloves/mittens. Hiking poles recommended (if you use them) Bring plastic bags/extra socks in case your feet get wet. Microspikes may be required depending on the conditions (if there is snow/ice) Hike information and details will be emailed to participants about 2 days prior to the hike.
