Mt Hancock,
New Hampshire, White Mountains,
NH United States
Join us for a year end winter adventure on the Hancock's - two of NH's 4,000 peaks. Named for one of our nation's founders - John Hancock, these two peaks used to be some of the most remote in the White Mountains prior to the opening of the Kankamagus Highway in 1959 and development of the trail in 1969. This strenuous and challenging winter hike climbs ~2,600' over a total of ~9.8 miles. Recent hiking experience of similar mileage and elevation, previous winter experience in steep terrain and appropriate winter equipment including mountaineering snowshoes, micro spikes and crampons are required. Potential participants must register online and a trip leader will be in touch to discuss their equipment and prior hiking experience.
