NH
Join us for a late winter hike of Franconia Ridge with a loop hike of approximately 8 ½ miles with over 3800' of elevation gain, summiting Mount Lincoln (5089') & Mount Lafayette (5260'). Weather permitting, we will have 360-degree views of the Franconia Notch to the west and the Pemigewasset Wilderness to the east. This hike will be at a moderate and steady pace with short breaks and is most suited for people with winter hiking experience, including the use of snowshoes and full crampons, over mountain terrain of similar distance and elevation gain on relatively steep trails with above-tree-line exposure. This hike is considered strenuous. When registering, please ensure that your REGI profile is current, including details of your recent hiking experiences in the last 3 months, including dates, approximate distance, elevation gain and approximate time to complete the hike. Having this information will greatly assist the leaders in ensuring the hike is a good fit for participants. A complete list of required gear is given in the gear list. We will hold Thursday, March 20 as a backup date for this hike if weather conditions prevent us hiking on Thursday, March 13. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out. AMC Trip Policy
