Overview

About 4+ miles. This hike will follow Leadmine Brook downstream, pass several ponds and a reservoir then cross a road and ascend alongside Rock Creek before circling back to the reservoir. If the path is not too wet we will also take the signed nature trail. There is a good variety of terrain on this pleasant hike. Meet at the Swimming Hole Rd parking area at 9:30am for a 9:45am start. Traction devices are required for winter hikes although they may not be needed. Boots or hiking shoes are recommended, dress in layers and hiking poles will be helpful. Bring water and snacks. REGISTRATION USING LEADER'S E-MAIL IS REQUIRED for this hike. Directions: From the west and south, Rte. 8 exit 42 (Rte. 118). Head east towards Harwinton 2.9 miles including one set of lights where you continue straight down then up a hill. At the top of the hill opposite the white church turn right onto South Rd. Swimming Hole Road is 1.2 miles on the right. The parking is a short distance on the left through a gate. Poor driving conditions will cancel.
