New Hampshire, White Mountains,
MA United States
Join us for an above treeline adventure as we summit Mt. Pierce and Mt. Eisenhower in New Hampshire's beautiful White Mountains. At 4,757' the Mt. Eisenhower summit offers the potential for outstanding views of Mt. Washington and the Southern Presidentials. All depending on clear skies of course! On our way to Mt. Eisenhower we will also summit Mt. Pierce at 4,310'. This will be a moderately paced hike with a distance of 8.5 miles round trip and approximately 3,301 feet of elevation gain. The leaders will be taking a conservative approach and you should expect that the above treeline section (~2.8 mi) will be modified if conditions are not supportive of a fun and safe hike. Interested participants must have recent above treeline winter hiking experience with similar distances and elevation gains. We respectfully ask that this not be your first winter hike of the season. Participants will need the full complement of gear listed in the AMC Boston Chapter Winter Day-Hiking Equipment Checklist, including the Above Treeline section, with the exception of crampons and an ice axe which is not required. Link to checklist https://hb.amcboston.org/images/docs/Gear_lists/Winter_Dayhike_equip.pdf To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
