Overview

Join us for an overnight adventure in the northern edge of the Pemigewasset Wilderness at the Garfield Ridge Campsite. We will hike along the challenging Garfield Ridge Trail, summit both Mt. Garfield and Galehead Mountain, and enjoy a road walk along the Gale River Loop Road. In addition to the challenging ups and downs of the Garfield Ridge Trail, we should expect to break trail on this lesser traveled section of the Pemigewasset loop and to use crampons on a particularly steep section. We'll plan to camp at the Garfield Ridge tentsite. You should be an experienced winter hiker with backpacking experience. To address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding, the planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
