This is a conditioning series for those that already have a base level of fitness and want to take it to the next level in preparation for strenuous summer activities. We will hike at a faster than moderate pace with minimal stops for about 4 hours in the hillier sections of the Blue Hills. Size is limited to 10 so that we can all keep together and don't need to wait at intersections. You should be able to maintain a 3mph pace on flat trails and a 2mph pace on inclines (slower if microspikes are required). Please adjust the weight of your backpack so you can maintain this pace. The appropriate backpack weight should result in you finding it slightly challenging to both talk and hike. I will not be checking weights so you can adjust lighter if desired. We will stop for a trail lunch where we can enjoy chatting. When rocks are wet, we will keep off rugged terrain, stay in the woodland, and maintain a fast, speed-walking pace, to build endurance. The hike will not be cancelled due to rain or snow, but I will cancel if it is unsafe driving conditions (i.e. driving through snowstorms). The meetup time is 9:45 AM for 10 AM start, and the end time is around 2 PM. The starting location will be sent the weekend before the hike. This hike is open to everyone, you do not need to be a member of AMC to participate, however on-line registration is required
