Mt. Tecumseh, 55+ Join Tim and John on a fabulous winter hike to the summit of Mt. Tecumseh. We still consider Tecumseh a 4,000 footer, which was named for a native Shawnee Indian chief Tecumseh, who was a fierce warrior during the early 1800's. We plan to hike from Waterville Valley on trail for 5 miles round trip and 2,200' elevation gain. We will hike at a slow to moderate pace, crossing several streams, and ascending steeply in the upper elevation. When the skies are clear, there are partial views at the summit, and mid-way views across one of the ski trails. Full winter gear is required for this hike, including mountaineering snow shoes, light traction and appropriate warm layers. Hikers who request to join this hike will be contacted by one of the leaders to review gear and experience suitable for this hike. Leaders will coordinate with accepted hikers prior to the day of the hike.
