Want to learn how to get the most out of your Ice Climbing Gear, meet new friends and old, and grab a tasty brew? Join us for ICE Gear & Cold Beer on January 16 from 7pm to 9pm at Aeronaut Brewing! MUST BE 21+ Years of AGE! ? Are you new to ice climbing and trying to figure out what kind of gear you should buy? ? Did you just buy some shiny new ice gear but can't quite figure out how to get it to fit right? ? Have you been climbing for years but never really got the hang of sharpening your ice tools or ice screws? ? Are you a seasoned climber with gear wisdom you can share with others? Well…we got you covered! This will be a hands-on learning opportunity facilitated by some of our volunteer gear Gurus. We will have some gear to practice on but feel free to bring some of yours. We will cover these topics and more… •Single vs. double boots and how to choose one over the other. •How to get the right fit out of your ice boots and fix that pesky heel lift or toe punch. •How to ensure your crampons are properly fitted to your boots for best performance. •How to sharpen your ice tools. •How to tune up your ice screws. •And other questions you may have! There will also be a Gear Swap Table if you are looking to score some used gear or sell off some of that well-loved extra gear. NO SAFETY RELATED SOFT GOODS SUCH AS HARNESSES, SLINGS, DRAWS, OR ROPES PLEASE! NOTE: The AMC and the Boston Chapter Mountaineering Committee will not be a part of any transactions and is not selling, buying, or handling and money. All transactions will be done privately between individuals and not the AMC or it's chapters.
