Join Holly and Emma on a 9.6 mile round trip hike to Mount Kearsarge North. If the weather permit us, we will enjoy magnificent panoramic views from the summit fire tower. Total distance is ~10 miles, with approx 2700 feet of elevation gain. We plan to hike at 2+mph, slowing it down on the climbs, for a targeted hiking time of 8 hours, though conditions on the day could extend this. We plan to take less-traveled routes so there's a good chance we'll be breaking trail. You should be an experienced winter hiker comfortable with such terrain and conditions, and come prepared with appropriate 4-season gear including mountaineering snowshoes, microspikes and layers, and with fitness built up by recent hikes of similar distances and elevation gains within the past 3 months. Winter daylight hours will be scarce; we'll start early and expect to finish in daylight, but working headlamps are required in case the hike takes longer than expected. The planned trip destination, activity and/or meeting place and time may be modified to address unforeseen challenges such as adverse weather, unacceptable trail conditions or excessive crowding. In that event, participants may elect to join in that activity or opt out.
