Overview

Have you ever wondered what canoe campers know about which gear and food to pack and how to pack it for a trip in a canoe? How is canoe camping different from car camping or backpacking? Where can you go camping by way of a canoe? And, for how long? On January 18, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM in Concord, NH, the Canoe Committee of the AMC NH Paddlers will host a workshop for those paddlers interested in moving into camping with a canoe and answer all those basic questions. Learn the ins and outs of preparing for a night, a weekend, a week or even longer, camping in a canoe, either solo, with a partner, or with a family or group. Topics will be presented by folks with decades of camping and canoeing experience and topics will be: Trip Planning & Organization, Necessary Skills, Equipment, Food and Cooking, and Tips for Families. In addition, some trip ideas and favorite trips of presenters will be offered and an opportunity to view actual gear used. No experience is necessary, however, basic camping and paddling skills in a canoe will be helpful. This workshop is entirely on land. Registration is open through the NH AMC activity listing: https://activities.outdoors.org/search/index.cfm/action/details/id/154373 or by contacting the registrar. Cost is $25 payable through the NH registration site. Note that online registration will be suspended Jan 6-9 for a system upgrade but should be available again on Jan 10.
