Overview

Join us for a day of moderate paced, machine cut track kick and glide skiing on the lovely groomed, trails of local gem Green Woodlands Foundation. The high altitude of this area often has good snow! Green Woodlands has 50+ km of rolling scenic trails and several warming huts. We will be out on the trails all day with several stops and lunch at warming huts - bring your packed lunch and at least 1 liter of fluids! Ability Level & Pace: We plan on a moderate pace of about 4 km/hr and about 15 km for the day, depending on the group and conditions. This trip isn't appropriate for beginners and there is no rental shop/snack bar. Extremely fast skiers (and skaters) are welcome to self-guide. Depending on the group dynamics, the leaders will split the group to match skiers desires. Trail Passes: There isn't a trail fee, but on-line donations to Green Woodlands are appreciated. Conditions: These trails are machine groomed for both skate and classic skiing. Trip may run in marginal conditions, but lack of snow and/or rain will likely cancel the trip. Consult the leaders. Ski conditions and area map available in the website area. Registration & Waiver: This trip is sponsored by the AMC Boston Ski Committee. Register for the trip by clicking on the "Register Now" button and clicking through the E-Waiver. Gear List: Narrow XC skis/boots/poles for machine cut tracks. Very small daypack or fanny pack with 1l water, snacks, spare jacket Lip balm/chapstick, sunglasses, spare gloves and balaclava or hat. Wear clothing, gloves, hat, balaclava, glasses/goggles per expected weather Use map from adventure center and/or GPS app on smartphone for navigation
