Join other families for a weekend of snowshoeing/hiking in beautiful Crawford Notch, NH! AMC Boston Family Outings has rented the Shapleigh Bunkhouse (next to the Highland Center) for Friday and Saturday night. If you and your family have thought about trying hiking in the winter, this is the trip for you! Participants must have previous hiking experience, but not necessarily winter hiking experience. We are organizing this trip for kids 7+ (or kids who can be carried in a backpack). If you think your younger kid has the right experience, please contact leader Heather McCurdy to discuss. The Shapleigh Bunkhouse is coed, heated, and includes bathrooms/showers, linens, and a common area. For Saturday and Sunday breakfast, we will dine next door at the Highland Center, enjoying hearty, home-cooked food to fuel our hikes. Saturday night, we will cook a meal together at the bunkhouse. We will also provide trail lunches and snacks for both days. The Highland Center also has a cozy lounge, library, store and playground. Saturday (weather-willing) we will hike/snowshoe Mt. Willard (3.2 miles RT) with its gorgeous views down into Crawford Notch ….a classic "big bang for your buck" hike! Sunday's hike will be leader's choice depending on conditions and the group's abilities. Space is limited to 8 participants; registration is recommended as early as possible so you don't miss out! Cost includes dinner Saturday, 2 nights lodging, 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches.
