Overview

We will backpack the 18 mile Thunder Swamp Trail for 2.5 days and then backpack the 22 mile Pinchot Trail for 3.5 days. Both trails are moderate in difficulty and good for seasoned backpackers with experience doing multi-day trips. All participants are expected to be self-sufficient with food, water and shelter. Day 1: Meet at Thunder Swamp Trailhead around noon and backpack 5.5 miles. Day 2: Backpack 11 (+ - ) miles to the next campsite. Day 3: Backpack 1.5 miles back to cars and drive to Pinchot State Trailhead to hike 6 miles. Day 4: Backpack 11.5 miles. Day 5: Backpack 8 miles to the next campsite. Day 6: Backpack 2.5 miles and drive home. Other items required for this trip: 1. Insect repellent. 3. Extra socks so if feet get wet they can be dried, fit with dry socks and covered by plastic bags before stepping back into wet boots so the group keeps moving. Please bring plastic bags !
